THE BRIEF
Creating a modern digital presence for a historic landmark to establish the Horse & Jockey as Chorlton’s premier foodie destination.
The Horse and Jockey launched in October 2025, marking a new chapter for this iconic 500 year old building. Following an extensive refurbishment that respects its heritage with original features and heritage colours, the pub has been transformed into a premier foodie destination. We were commissioned to design and develop a website that balances this rich history with the functional requirements of a modern gastropub.

Key Objectives:
• Reflect the 500 year old heritage through a clean and sympathetic digital design.
• Streamline the guest experience by embedding booking systems directly into the site.
• Build a scalable architecture that allows for future updates such as private hire and seasonal events.

The project is operated by the experienced team behind the successful Black Friar in Salford. As we already manage their other digital assets, we were able to ensure the Horse and Jockey launched with a reliable and professional platform. This existing relationship allowed us to implement effective systems from the start, ensuring their new gastropub had a digital presence capable of handling high enquiry volumes from day one.

A Future Proof Platform Built for Growth.
We delivered a bespoke WordPress website that prioritises a high quality user experience and operational efficiency. The solution features a streamlined booking integration and a custom menu carousel to showcase their fresh, local ingredients. By using a WordPress foundation, we have ensured the site remains future proof, allowing the owners to easily add blog content or dedicated pages for private hires and Christmas events as the brand becomes more fleshed out. The final result is a professional digital hub providing practical tools to manage daily operations and a platform the owners are proud to advertise.
Results:
• Over 1,000 newsletter signups were captured before the venue was even open.
• More than 1,500 advanced bookings were made through the website in the first month of operating.
• The venue reached full booking capacity before launch and maintained a fully booked status throughout its first two months of operation.
